Peter Adams Trust
Peter Eric Adams was an enthusiastic educationalist both as a learner and teacher who was liked and admired by his pupils. His interests also included Conservation and travel.
Following the death of his Mother he inherited The Thorne Estate, Bethersden.
Peter was the last of the line and by his Will left his net estate on Charitable Trust.

The Peter Adams Trust have been incredibly supportive of my studies towards my Masters degree this year. The Personal Improvement Grant helped me to afford the cost of living so that I could focus my attention on studying to achieve my best results and make the most of the opportunity at university.

The grant issued to me from The PA Trust for completion of a Masters programme has enabled me to study for a vital qualification and gain professional placement experience within the competitive field of Fine Art Conservation. The Village Hall has received great support from the Peter Adams Trust. The Trust has helped and supported with projects in the hall i.e. updating the kitchen, new blinds etc.
I found it mainly easy to apply for grants, but on occasions did find the process rather invasive.
Nevertheless once the grant was agreed, the Trust were very quick to provide their help.

We greatly appreciate the various grants awarded to them recently for the regeneration of our facilities. The procedure is thorough and structured but at times a little complicated.
Dealing with the PAT is friendly and business like and generally a good experience.

The Peter Adams Trust’s donation has helped us to attract match funding that provided our whole school with computers. Every child now has a dedicated laptop for computing and other lessons, which not only supports their learning but also engenders a sense of care and responsibility towards their equipment. The application process was very straightforward and the swift response time was impressive.

We are grateful to the Trustees for their sponsorship of our annual fund raising concert.
The application procedure is straightforward and the prompt response is, we believe, precisely what Mr Peter Adams would have wished.

The Peter Adams Trust supported our Ashford Green Corridor Interpretation Panels project, which saw 14 new panels installed Ashford; each panel informing the community and visitors about the important local natural and cultural heritage of that area.
The PAT grant was crucial in helping us achieve enough funding to complete the project. The procedure was relatively easy but rigorous, in terms of assuring the trustees that the money would be spent well and as agreed. We found the trustees helpful and positive.

The Peter Adams Trust has supported Medway Valley Countryside Partnership to deliver a series of events, volunteering opportunities and school trips for local people so that they can learn about the value and conservation of grasslands and meadows through the Save our Magnificent Meadows Project. The application process was in its early stages when we applied, but overall it was a thorough process and there was always someone on hand to deal with queries. The work we have completed over the last three years would not have been possible without the generous support of The Peter Adams Trust.

I am 18 and have been supported by The Peter Adams Trust in my drive to become an International Hockey Player. The support has been invaluable in contributing towards the significant expenses incurred in playing at local, county and national level. With the help of the Grant I have gone on to become part of Canterbury Men’s 1st Hockey Team, represented England at the English Schools Games and received caps for England under 18’s.
The Trust has been easy to deal with.
Hamish Roberts Miscellaneous/Travel
Thanks to support from the Peter Adams Trust a team of 25 young adults (17 to 23) together with older helpers spent 9 days in Morocco - Marrakech for culture and understanding and then trekking in the High Atlas Mountains. A really arduous and self-revealing and life changing experience for the young.
The process of applying for a grant was both easy and necessarily demanding. The requirement to provide costings and objectives by me was both proper and responsible. Difficult to think of how the process might be improved.
